We collect the minimum needed to sell you a book and let you read it. No ad trackers, no analytics scripts, no data brokers.

1. What we collect

DataWhenWhy
Email addressAt checkout, or if you request access restorationDeliver a receipt, restore access on a new device, respond to support requests
Payment detailsAt checkoutHandled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers
Entitlement cookieAfter purchaseProves you've paid, so paid chapters unlock in your browser
Reading progress (local storage, not a cookie)While readingRemembers your scroll position in a chapter and whether you've finished the book, entirely on your device
Email address (mailing list)If you subscribe for updatesSend occasional news about new books, chapters, and features. Double opt-in: nothing is sent until you confirm. Unsubscribe any time, one click

We do not run analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking scripts of any kind on this site.

2. Cookies & local storage

We set exactly one cookie of consequence: an entitlement token confirming your purchase, so you don't have to re-enter payment details to keep reading. It carries no personal information beyond that entitlement, and isn't shared with or read by any third party.

We also use your browser's local storage for two small conveniences: remembering your scroll position in a chapter, so you can pick up where you left off, and remembering whether you've finished the book, which unlocks a small bonus on the Figures page. Local storage is not a cookie — it stays entirely on your device, is never sent to our servers or anyone else's, and carries no personal information. Clearing your browser data clears it.

3. How we use your data

We never sell or rent your data to anyone. Subscribing is stored separately from your purchase and restore email above; the two are never linked, and subscribing is never required to read the book.

4. Who we share data with

If you subscribe, your email is stored in the same subscriber database Inkstone uses for its other book, the Mirror — but as a separate, independent subscription. Subscribing here does not add you to the Mirror's list, and vice versa; the two are never merged. We don't share your information with any other third party.

5. How long we keep it

We keep purchase records as long as needed to honor lifetime access and for basic accounting purposes. You can ask us to delete your email from our support records at any time (see below); we'll retain only what Stripe itself requires for payment records.

6. Your rights

You can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@inkstoneonline.com. If you're in the EU/UK, this reflects your rights under GDPR; we honor the same request from anyone, regardless of location.

7. Children

This site is not directed at children and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "last updated" date above.
