Chapters 1–12 are free to read. A one-time payment unlocks lifetime personal access to chapters 13–78, including the full-cast narration audio, character portraits, and interactive features. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.
Your purchase grants a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable license to read and listen to the book for your own use. You may not:
The underlying 1592 novel (世德堂本) is in the public domain. The English translation, adaptation, commentary, character portraits, and audio narration presented here are original works created by Inkstone Online, and remain our property. The character portraits are original illustrations; visual inspiration drawn from other works is used as a stylistic reference only, never as reproduction.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Access to paid chapters is granted via a browser cookie tied to your purchase; if you lose access on a new device, email us to restore it (see our contact page).
We aim to keep the book available without interruption, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. We may revise, extend, correct, or reformat the content over time; your access continues to apply to the current version of the book.
We may suspend or revoke access for anyone who violates these terms, in particular the sharing, redistribution, or scraping restrictions above.
The book is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, Inkstone Online is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site.
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "last updated" date above.
