Narration

The full-cast narration for this chapter unlocks with the book.

The demon was a monster-hound from the heavens who had come down and stolen the Kingdom of Purple Cloud's queen and set up on a mountain with her and three treasures — three golden bells that, when shaken, breathed out fire, then smoke, then a blinding storm of sand, a layered weapon that had kept the demon safe on his mountain for three years.

came for the queen, and the arc ran its shape: he could not beat the bells by force, so he stole them by trickery, disguised himself, got the bells swapped for fakes, the usual campaign of the monkey out-thinking a weapon he cannot out-fight. The book runs it briskly. The mechanics of the rescue are not where this chapter's weight sits.
